GOOD WORK-OUT
AN interesting work-out was witnessed before breakfast at Alexandra Park this morning, which was in reality a test for the trotter Leo Mauritius. The square-gaiter was driven by J. Shaw, and had with him Native Prince (S. Selkirk) and Bingen King (C. Fairman). The distance was two miles and the two worked solidly and faultlessly. The pace was on over the concluding stages and Leo Mauritius hung on well and responded gamely to the flail to finish on terms with his associates. Since joining Shaw’s stable the Australian has shown big improvement and over a 12-furlong journey will be a possibility.
