Minister of Internal Affairs, in opening the lnoeiing said: "1 think it very fitting that we should express our warmest congratulations to one of the boards members. Sir Apirana Ngata. on the great honour recently bestowed on him by His Majesty the King. There is no doubt Sir Apirana has performed long, interesting, and useful service in the Dominion, and, like the late Sir James Carroll and Sir Maui Pomarc. Sir Apirana, in the advocacy of th*> cause of the Maori people has always shown, to great purpose, the good that they can achieve in this enlightened civilisation.” “In his well-reasoned utterances, both as'an honourable member of Parliament and as a member of the Maori race.
