WAREHOUSE FIRE
CUSTOMS STREET BLAZE A fire in 27 Customs Street East led to a call to the City Fire Brigade at 3.12 this morning. \The building, a two-storey structure occupied by James Gilmour and Co., merchants, had caught fire in the top floor, and been burning some time before it was discovered. The brigade were quickly on the scene and soon extinguished the blaze. The top floor and contents were damaged by fire, while the ground floor and basement were soaked with water. The building is insured in the Victoria Insurance Company for £1,500, while the policy on the contents, which is held in the Queensland Company, is for £IO,OOO.
