DIPHTHERIA PREVALENT According to the report of Dr. W. B. Mercer, Medical Officer of .Health, diphtheria is still prevalent. The various district summaries for June are as follow: INFECTIOUS DISEASES Central Auckland. —Scarlet fever 15, diphtheria 37, enteric fever 2, tuberculosis 9, influenza 3, pneumonia 14, erysipelas 5, puerperal fever (ordinary) 5, puerperal fever 5, eclampsia 2, tetanus 1; total, 97 North Auckland. —Scarlet fever 1. diphtheria 4, enteric fever 20, tuberculosis 3, influenza 2, pneumonia 7, erysipelas 1, puerperal fever (ordinary) 1, ophthalmia neonatorum 3; total, 40 cases. South Auckland. —Scarlet fever 11, diphtheria 16, enteric fever 4, tuberculosis 11, influenza 2, pneumonia 5, erysipelas 4, nuerperal fever (ordinary) 2, eclampsia 1. total, 56 cases. .. . _ Coromandel -Opotiki.—Scarlet fever 4. diphtheria 20, enteric fever 3, tuberculosis 4, influenza 2, puerperal fever 1, tetanus 1, hvdatids 1: total, 36 cases.
