PRINCESS AND TIVOLI
“THE DENVER DUDE” An advance to prominence on the screen in less than two years is the remarkable achievement of Blanche Mehaffey, pretty and titian-haired young actress whose latest role is opposite Hoot Gibson in “The Denver Dude,” the Universal-Jewel production which will be shown for two more days at the Princess and Tivoli Theatres. Virtually unknown to the screen two years ago, Miss Mehaffey was called, among a number of others, as possibilities for the ingenue lead in “His People,” a picture then being filmed by Edward Sloman at Universal City. Her bubbling personality and Irish smile won her the part, and her sparkling performance in it won her a contract witH* the company producing the picture. In rapid succession followed the lead opposite Reginald Denny in “Take It From Me,” the lead in the “Runaway Express,” with Jack Daugherty and opposite Hoot Gibson in “The Texas Streak.”
Her previous theatrical experience consisted of work in two-reel comedies and, on the stage, in the “Follies.”
