SEASON’S EXPORT FIGURES CONSIDERABLE DECREASE Unfavourable weather conditions, including severe hailstorms, are largely responsible for a considerable decrease in Auckland’s apple export trade this season. Last year Auckland growers sent approximately 57,800 cases of first-grade apples overseas. This year it is not expected the figures will reach much over 15,000. The first shipment this season was lifted by the Corintbic on February 9 from Wellington. This was only a small consignment, however, railed South to catch the early market. The Hororata and Pakeha have since lifted approximately 10,000 cases and it is expected that there will onlv be another 5,000 cases available before the season closes. # The bulk of the shipments is consigned to the English market, but Montevideo, South America, also offers of a ready market and each shipment includes a consignment for that port. Several hundred cases of pears are also in cool store awaiting shipment from Auckland. The export figures show a large decrease, but they do not give a fair indication of the season’s crop. While the season’s output is not as prolific as last year, on account of the hailstorms, much of it is damaged just enough to prevent it passing the grader, but is still quite good enough for local consumption. As yet, there is no sign of a glutted market such as was experienced last year. NEW ZEALAND’S MEAT EXPORT FIGURES FOR SEASON A decrease in beef and mutton exports and an increase in lamb and pork exports for the 1926-27 season. November to March, as compared with the corresponding period of last year, is recorded in a report from the New Zealand Meat Producers' Board. The figures are:
