Mr. J. Callaghan, of Ohakune, is at present in Stratford en holiday.

Miss Alma Hodge has returned from a holiday at Urenui.

The Hon. J. G. Cobbe, Minister of Justice, returned to Wellington from his home at Feilding last evening.

The. Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates, Minister of Finance, is expected back in Wellington from the North Auckland district at the end of the present week.

Mr. A. B. Lindop, accompanied by Miss A. Foster and Mr. F. Faire (Wellington) are spending the Easter holidays with Mr and Mrs H. Lindop, of Hamlet Street South.

Mr. Benjamin Throp, for many years the best-known dentist in Dunedin, is dead. Ho was a keen bowler and'a foundation member of the Roslv 11 Club. He was also a member of the Otago Chess Club. He was born in Yorkshire in 1815. Mr. Throp is survived by his widow, three sons and four daughters.

The death has occurred of the actor Mr. Fred Terry, the youngest of the famous Terry family, says a London cable. He was educated in France and Switzerland and first walked on the stage at the opening of the Haymarket Theatre under the Bancroft regime in 1880, at the age of 15. He acted in nearly every town of importance in the United Kingdom, United States and Canada. He married Julia Neilson, the actress. His son, Mr. Dennis Neilson-Terry, died in South Africa last year.
