WEDDING
POPE—CHILDS * A wedding of wide local interest was solemnised at Holy Trinity Church. Stratford, yesterday evening, when Miss Patti Melba Childs, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. J.. Childs, was joined in matrimony to Mr. Peter Oscar Pope, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. G. Pope, New Plymouth. Rev. Canon G. T. Beale officiated and Miss Molly Femmell was tit the organ. The bride was charmingly Crocked in white georgette and lace, with tulle head dress. She carried a sheaf of flowers to match. The bridesmaids, of whom there were five. Misses Rhoda Childs (sister of the bride). Margaret, Phillips, Maisie Smart, Duleie, Kehely. and Joyce Bond (Auckland) were circled in white lace and georgette, as was the flower girl. Miss Claudia Cameron. Subsequently, over 100 guests wore entertained at the Medina Tea Rooms the bride's mother receiving her guests in a frock of maroon eclanese and the bridegroom's mother in a black and white ensemble. The bridegroom's gifts to the bridesmaids were crystal neclaces and to the flower girl.a gold bangle. Later the happy couple left by car for a honeymoon trip.
