THE LEAGUE GAME SYDNEY TEAM BEAT NORTHLAND WHANGAREI. Thursday. The Sydney Eastern Suburbs Rugby League team opened Us New Zealand tour this afternoon, when it defeated North Auckland by 23 to 11. The visitors showed delightful combination and their passing was first-class. They played the ball with speed and accuracy. Outstanding players were Hong (full-back). Brown (three-quarters), and Norman (five-eighths). In the forwards, who held their own against a good pack, Pearce and Stehr were prominent. The Northland team did not play as well as in representative fixtures this year, and its only try was scored by O’Callaghan, a forward. Hamilton converted this and kicked three penalty goals. The first spell ended with the score of 8 to 4 in favour oi the visitors.
