THE STRATFORD CLUB The annual meeting of the Stratford Croquet Club was held yesterday. The election of officers at the annual meeting of the club on Wednesday resulted as follow; President, Mrs. Riera (re-elected); vice-president, Mrs. Dickenson; honorary secretary, Mrs. C. H. Stephenson; hon. treasurer, Mrs. R. H. White (re-elected); committee; , Mesdames Jackson, Curtis, Davies, Coward, Moon, Harkness and Burgess. The members present at the meeting were Mesdames Riera (in the chair), Curtis, Davies, Dickenson, Harkness, Gatton, Butchart, Coward, Le Rois, Bamford Brocklebank and Stephenson. The twenty-fifth annual report and balance-sheet was read by the secretary, Mrs. Brocklebank. The report stated that keen interest had been displayed during the season, interclub matches having been played with Hawera, Eltham, Inglewood and Avon. A tournament for the final of the Campbell and McL’Dowie Cups was held in March on the Avon and Stratford lawns. Hawera Club was to be congratulated on 'winning the Campbell Cup and Avon on winning the McL’Dowie Cup. Several keen and enjoyable .games were played between the Stratford clubs for the challenge buttons donated by Mrs. Hoskin,, of the Avon Club, for handicap doubles., The pleasant nature of I the season was due to the splendid j work of the committee and the keen interest of the president (Mrs. Riera).) The thanks of the club were due to those who had given trophies, especially Mr. D. Butcher for a silver cup and miniature for handicap singles, and all who assisted in raising money I with bridge and euchre parties, thus) helping the funds and further improving the lawns.
