BIBLE CLASS UNION

At Ihe monthly meeting of the Taranaki district committee of the Presbyterian Bible Class Union, held in St. Andrew's Church, Stratford, Mr. W. Wickham presided. Reports from the New Plymouth senior, intermediate and junior and Ingle wood classes were received. The secretary reported that affiliation forms had been received from the Normanby and Awatuna classes and had been forwarded to the executive council. It was decided to congratulate those classes on the step they had taken in joining the union.

The contributions to missions would fall short by about £2O of the districts' levy, stated the secretary. The levy for the coming year was approximately £72. It was decided to stress .at the Labour' Day rally the importance of regular giving to missions. A comparison of statistics showed that the membership had decreased by seven, the number of affiliated classes for the past three years being: i!)2!), 15: 1930, 16; 1931, 18. The membership for the same periods were 150, 188. 181. It was decided to forward the following remits to the executive council for consideration at the annual meeting: (1) That the competition for the union athletic shield be discontinued and the shield handed to one of the church colleges. (2) That the motion regarding the appointment of a travelling secretary be rescinded. (3) That the publication of Four Square be discontinued. The Rev. J. MacGregor asked if the committee would assist with the service on October IS (Young People's Day i. This was acceded to. and it was decided to hold a Bible Class tea before the service. The secretary reported that arrangements were well in hand for the Labour Day rally to be held at New Plymouth. The morning address would be taken by the Rev. A. L. Dixon, of Waitara. and the eveningaddress by Die Rev. R. E. Evans, of Hawera.
