A NIGHT OF REVELRY

1 STRATFORD GOLF BALL ! The annual ball of the Stratford Golf Club has always been considered one of the outstanding attractions of the season in Taranaki, and last night’s ball fully maintained this standard, marked as it was by a crowded hall, excellent music, beautiful decorations, and, of course, a delightful supper. From all parts of Taranaki came hosts of visitors, so that quite early in the evening the floor was taxed to its utmost and the circle was well crowded with onlookers, who found much to interest them in the kaleidoscope of colour and the exposition of all the latest modes in frocks. For the occasion the bare walls of the Town Hall were adorned with a wealth of greenery and ferns, while suspended above the dancers were a huge sunshade and many gaily-col-oured butterflies with festoons of streamers, the whole decorative scheme reflecting great credit on the ladies responsible, Mrs. Green and Mrs. Clarke and their willing helpers, and Mrs. 0. M. Curtis, for the general arrangement. Valuable assistance was given by Mr. H. G. North in painting the very realistic butterflies. Throughout evidence of good organisation was apparent, due to the untiring efforts of the joint secretaries, Messrs. C. S. Lyons and A. A. F. Pudge, and Mr. P. Skoglund fulfilled the duties of M.C. in his usual capable manner. Despite the crowded floor enjoyment was everywhere, the excellent music by Wills’ Orchestra proving irresistible. This, coupled with the first-class condition of the floor, was a guarantee of a never-to-be-forgotten evening for all, and the supper arrangements, in the hands of the lady members of the club, in charge of Mesdames W. & Glasgow and L. R. Curtis, left nothing to be desired. From, all points of view the golf ball was a wonderful success, as everyone knew it would be.
