NEW ELTHAM INDUSTRY

MILL AT BOX FACTORY MANUFACTURING CHEESE CRATES Eltham will shortly have an add! tion to its manufacturing industries. The Egraont Box ’Factory Company has purchased a big sawmill plan* which is expected to come into opera* tion in two or three weeks’ time. Contractors are at present on the job of erection, the management having decided to place the mill on the flat at the rear of the main factory. Assembling work is proceeding apace, while ' already a big stock of logs in the raw material for cheese crates has been carted to the site. All the timber is pinus insignia, and a verypleasing feature of the enterprise is that all this raw material has come off land within a 10-mile radius of the mill. This being the case, the great majority of farmers will be in a position to supply crates for their own products. At present about 50,000 super feet is on the site. , . The advantages of having such a central mill are quite obvious. It is expected that heads of the company will be present when the mill is opened, and further details of. the enterprise will then be made known.
