Mr. Lloyd George is unlikely to return to public life for several months

The board o£ Dalgety and Co., Ltd. has approved the appointment ot Mr H. S. Lawrence to the managership of the Christchurch branch in succession to the late Mr. J. G. Herdman. Except for three years’ service in the Great War from 1916 until 1919, Mr. Lawrence has been continuously with Dalgety and Co. since he left the Christchurch Boys’ High School in 1896. He has always been stationed in the Christchurch branch, holding the positions of junior auctioneer, senior auctioneer, and (for the past ten years) sub-manager. Mr. Lawrence was chairman of the Auctioneers’ Association on its foundation live years ago. He has been in charge of his company’s stock department for a number of y.ears, conducting all the important sales. He lias become widely known among the Canterbury farmers, and is essentially a farmers’ man, with an expert knowledge of the stock and pastoral conditions of the province.
