UXF.MPLOI’MENT BOA]} l>. ELECTION OF MEMBERS. PREPARATIONS BEING MADE. Arrangements for the election of members of the Unemployment Board set up by the Unemployment Act, to which the Governor-General’s assent is expected to be given this week, will shortly be undertaken. Regulations are to ho gazetted prescribing the method of election, and detailing the form of application for registration. Th e board will comprise the Minister of Labour as chairman, two Government appointees, one member appointed from persons nominated by employers engaged in primary industries, one representative of employers in secondary industries, two members appointed from persons nominated by organisations of workers and one member appointed from persons nominated by the New' Zealad Returned Soldiers’ Association'. The Minister of Labour, Hon. S. G. Smith, stated yesterday that the Secretary of Labour is now engaged in compiling lists of organisations of employers and workers, who will be asked to submit nominations of persons for appointment to the board. The secretary has a complete list of organisatioiis of employers and workers registered under the Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Act, but if other organisations of employers engaged in the primary and secondary industries and other organisations of workers desire to ensure that they will receive nomination' papers they are advised to communicate with the Secretary of Labour immediately.
