DAPHNE BUSH STOLEN PURSE WITH £8 LEFT It was a daphne bush of which any amateur gardener might well be proud —a sturdy shrub with sprays of the dainty pink and white blossom clustering all over it, and exhaling that pungently sweet scent that makes them so distinctive. Conceiving the idea of making a little extra pin-money, the owner, a Linwood resident, hied herself to a city florist and made a contract to sell the blooms. Returning home to collect the flowers she found to her amazement and annoyance that some unprincipled marauder had coolly lifted the entire bush from the front garden and departed for parts unknown. On peering more closely into the hole where the bush had once been the owner discovered what might be described as a most satisfactory salve to her feelings of disappointment—a purse with £8 inside it! The lady has decided that there is money in flowers after all. And she is now waiting for the former owner of tlie purse to come along anti claim it ... .
