The Australians at the luncheon adjournment had reached 1148 for the loss of four -wickets, Jackson’s innings was delightful, the hatsma'a revealing his true form in stylish cutting and driving. (Received 9.55 a.m.) LONDON, July 31. Australia, i*n the first innings, made 360. Somerset n the second innings made 81. Australia won by an innings and 158 runs. Bradman made 117 and Jackson 118. Bradman and Jackson batted beautifully until nearing the centuries when caution was shown. Bradman got his in 185 minutes, but J acksou took 220. The former hit 13 fours and the latter fifteen. Richardson ( 27) hit a sixer hut on attempting another was caught on the boundary. Woodfuil (30) hit out vigorously, and a’Beckett (24) was also enterprising. The remainder of the side made a poor showing. Somerset’s second innings was little better than a procession. Wellard (17) however, bit a tremendous sixer over the pavilion, and another into an adjoining cemetery. Other batsmen were unable to stand up against McCabe and Grimmett. The match closed at 6.10 p.m.
