MAORIS HORRIFIED
OBJECTION TO CREMATION SIR MAUI POMARE’S REMAINS NEW PLYMOUTH, July 4. News of, the eronution of the remains of Sir. Maui Ptunare has, sent a wave of horror through the Maoris of North Taranaki', who, for some days, have Been making arrangements for a huge, Tangi, when the body was brought to New Zealand, and buried in his birthplace north of Waitara. A leading Maori Mates that the whole of his race is pained, to an indescribable extent over, the cremation. A meeting, of Maoris is being called this week-end, with the object of discussing the position, and the general feeling is that the cremated remains ,-hould be left in Wellington as they, are not wantcil in Taranaki.
