THE EG3TONT SKAT. MR WILKINSON ATTACKS GOVERNMENT. Press Associx'ion—Copyright. HAWERA, This Buy. Mr C. A. Wilkinson, of Eltham, who is contesting the Egmont seat as an Independent against Hon. 0. J. Hawken, opened his campaign last evening with an address at Auroa. Mr Wilkinson represented Egmont from 1912 to 1919 as a Reformer. He attacked the Government on the grounds of high and inequitable taxation, lack of economy, excessive borrowing, interference in business, and suffering the control of Government by oilicials. On the licensing question he supported a bai'e majority with a twoissue ballot paper and an extension time between pells to 6 years. He reserved the right to associate himself with any party which might arise, which in his opinion appeared likely to best serve the common interest. , , ,—_ ■■■ ■ t '
