Canada is', vitally interested in and affected by the proposed merger of the Beam Wireless system, and the Eastern Cabl e Company, and various other companies within the Empire.
According to the Postmaster-Gen-al the service supervised and controlled by the Pacific Cable Board is certainly affected. Canada's approval of the merger is dependent on an insertion in the merger agreement of certain conditions governing the rates for service by. wireless and cable lines, and complete governmental control 6i all cable and radio services in case of war. It Is also important that the merger is expected to eliminate costly competition and reduce the cost to the Treasuries for maintenance especially on the Pacific Coast. —Australian P.A.
