OLD BUILDING ALIGHT. BLAZE IN NEW PLYMOUTH. OUTBREAK IN B ROUGHA>I STREET. , (Special to "Post".) NEW PLYMOUTH, This Day. Damage amounting to £IOO was done to a building in Brougham Street, New Plymouth, when a fire occurred this morning. The builtti„g_an old wooden one—was owned by the New Plymouth Investment and Loan Society* and occupied by Messrs. Duff and Wynyard, accountants. * The fire was discovered at 8.30 a.m., the alarm being given from the taxi stand opposite. The brigade, on arrival, had to force the door and found the lire had originated hi a short passage at the rear of the building and had spread' to the mam. office. Though it had a good hold it was soon extinguished. The damage 1 by fire was not very extensive, but water wa s responsible for a good deal. A calculating machine was amongst the furniture damaged, but no documents of! value were lost. The building was insured for £IOOO in the Alliance Office and the contents, for- £250 in the" same office The origin of the outbreak is unknown.
