SERIOUS OFFENCES ALLEGED.

GIRL'S ESCAPE FROM HOME.

Serious charges were brought against eleven men in the , Magistrate's Court to-day concerning three girls who had escaped from the girls' home at Eurwood. In some cases the charges were of unlawful carnal knowledge, and in others of harbouring escapees under the Child Welfare lact, and s ome cases both. There were 47 informations in all. Chief Detective Carroll said' that three girls, who had escaped from the home had met the accused men from about February 17 until two months ago. The magistrate ordered tho suppression of the names of the girls. The charges of harbouring were all ladjournedi until August 22, and the other charges were proceeded with.

The accused men and the offences alleged! nigainst them were:—Victor Robert Blackburn, carnal knowledge (four counts) and l harbouring (four counts; George Boloski, carnal knowledge (one count) and harbouring (two counts); Ernest Crissier, carnal knowledge (one count) (and harbour (four counts); James Hannan, carnal knowledge (three) and harbouring (four); Albert Crozier, harbouring (three); Alfred Langley Phillip Gibbens, harbiuiing (four); Maurice Victor ltossiter, carnal knowledge (four) and harbouring (two); diaries .Timothy Rogal, ciu-nal knowledge (four) and harbouring (two); Francis Arthur Partridge, harbouring (two; George Quakl, carnal knowledge (one), harbouring (four); Fredrick James Fox Sullivan, carnal knowledge (one). •Evidence was taken to-day only in the da-ses of Blackburn, Boloski, Ernest Crozier and Hannan, and the other cases were adjourned till tomorrow. Blackburn was committed for trial, bail being allowed in his own recognisance of £6O and a surety of £SO. The charge against Boloski whs dismissed, the evidence of the girl concerned being that she could not remember the accused as being guilty of the offence alleged. Oorzier was committed! for trial. One information against Hannan was dismissed, and the others have not vet been heard 1 .
