POSITION REVIEWED

COST OF BOARDS

(Special to Post)

WELLINGTON, This Day

In the course of his remarks to the shareholders, the chairman of Directors of the Bank 0 f New Zealand reviewed the position in regard to dairy produce. "The total butter and cheese imported into Great Britain for the year ended 31st March list amounted to 6,160,790 and 2,988,167 cwts, respectively, ho said. At our annual meeting two years ago I gave it as my opinion that if the Meat Control Board and the Dairy Control Board were amalgamated, and the total personnel reduced considerably, not only would there be a great reduction in the cost or* administration, but tlie work would He done more efficiently. This opinion wUs strengthened and confirmed during my visit to London last year. "I again take occasion to point out that both Boards are doing precisely the same work with two sets of officials, two staffs, and two officers at both ends."
