Mr C. D. Sole returned to Stratford from Wellington last night. Mr and. Mbs L. Berg were ] passengers for Wellington by this morning’s mail train. Mr W. Association, was in Stratford to-day on business, r Mr A. W. Wellstead. Railway Business Agent, who has'been in Taranaki on official business,' went south this; morning. Mr J. W. Deem, of the Agriculttal Department, who has been in Taranaki for the last, few days, returned io Wanganui to-dav. V Mr Allan Terry, late of Stratford, and now 'on the staff of the “Melbourne Age,” is at present on a visit to him home town. At tine meeting of the Rugby Union last night a vote of condolence was extended to Mr J. Goodwin on the death of his father, which occurred in. Sydney. -■ Mr T. Webb, an old Stratford resident, who’ now lives in Palmerston. North, has been staying in ,Stratford for the past few days. Ho was engaged to judge the vegetables at tho New Plymouth Show. The death is announced of Mr Sanford Dole who was president of Hawaii’ at the time of its annexation by the United States,' states a message from Honolulu. A London message says that Mr Spofforth, the famous Australian bowler, was buried at Brookwood cemetery. Wreaths were sent by the Australian team and'the Mafylehone, Surrey and Hampstead cluhs.V Mr Smith Longstaff, of Taurutangi, and Mr L. B.
