Accidents and Fatalities
MOTORIST KILLED. Per Press Association. Christchurch, August 15. diaries Arthur Wells, aged 62, a retired farmer, died as a result of injuries received in a collision between his car and a Waikari train at tire Harewood Road cresting, near the Papanui railway station. Miss Winifred Byrch, who w~a riding in the car, escaped with a few bruises. There was one train standing at the Papanui station and .one coaling from Christchurch, and evidently Wells did not notice the outward bound train, the engine of which struck the car amidships and throw it against a telegraph post.
