PUKERAU RABBIT BOARD

THREE NEW MEMBERS APPOINTED A welcome to three new members of the Pukerau Rabbit Board —Messrs J. A. Edwards, P. O’Hagan and G. Sutherland —was extended by the chairman, Mr A. Herron, at a meeting of the board. The appointments have been made by the Governor-General to fill the vacancies caused through the resignations of Messrs F. Trapski, M. E. McLennan and J. Copland. Advice to this effect has been received from the Minister of Agriculture (Mr Roberts). The hope that harmonious relations would exist between the members in directing efforts for the destruction of rabbits was expressed by the chairman. Mi - Herron said he had decided to hand in his resignation as chairman of the board, as he was now convinced that the board would continue to function as the director of rabbit destruction in its area. Mr Herron’s decision was the subject of a full discussion, after which it was resolved that the resignation should not be accepted. Notice of motion was given of the intention of the board to strike a rate of 4d an acre at the next meeting and to allow the usual discount of 5 per cent, for prompt payment. A statement was made by the secretary (Mr A. W. Cooper) that the purchase had been made of an army hut for a rover, who would make a final clean-up of ground on which mechanical fumigators had been operating.
