EMPIRE RIFLE SHOOTING

N.Z. FOURTH IN BOYS’ MATCH (Special Correspondent, N.Z.P.A.) (Rec. 8.15 p.m.) LONDON, August 8. New Zealand took fourth place in the National Rifle Association’s match for the King George V trophy for boys of the Empire. The match was won by South Africa for the 15th time with an average of 78.46 out of a possible 100. Canada was second with 78.23, Britain third with 68.04 and New Zealand fourth with 67.45. Although reappearing in the match at short notice after an absence of five years New Zealand units provided the highest number of competitors from any of the Dominions or Britain, 14,408 competing. New Zealand had 12 units in the honours list of the best 100 units in the Empire.
