LINEN FLAX CROP
PURCHASE BY BRITISH GOVERNMENT (Special) WELLINGTON, August 8. “The British Government is prepared to take the linen flax produced from 10,000 acres planted during the present season,” said the Minister of Industries and Commerce, Mr Sullivan, replying in the House of Representatives today to an urgent question by Mr G. R. Herron (Nat., Awarua). He had asked the Minister what was the position of this season’s linen flax crop in Southland and South Otago. The Minister added that the allocation of acreages among the various factories had been receiving consideration and a public announcement giving details of the various district quotas would be made almost immediately.
