Still Hale and Hearty Twenty-seven years old by official count next month, The Hawk, is still hale and hearty at Te Mahanga. The Martian gelding registered 1.10 1-5 in a two-year-old handicap at Trentham in the 1920-21 season, and continued racing until he had won in New Zealand and Australia the huge sum of £28,201, nearly all of it in non-handi-cap races. The Hawk began his career as the property of the Douglas Trustees, but was purchased early by trainer J. M. Cameron, for whom he won over £27,000 for an outlay of about 500gns.
