NEW FARM WAGE AGREEMENT
INCREASE IN PRICES SUGGESTED (Special) DUNEDIN, April 6. The new farm wage agreement has already aroused a good deal of speculation among farmers, and it was stated at the provincial office of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union today that while most farmers were not surprised at the increase they were definite that there must be a corresponding increase in the price of primary products. In the past, it was reiterated, the Government had held back a large proportion of the increases granted by the British Government on the score that it would upset the stabilization policy. Now that increases had been granted to wage earners, however, leading farmers maintained that there must be a corresponding increase in the price paid by the Government for their produce.
