CLEARING SALE AT OTAMA

A successful clearing sale was held on the property of Mr A. D. J. McPhail, Otama, who has‘sold his farm. The sale, which was conducted by Wright, Stephenson and Co., Ltd., in conjunction with J. G. Ward and Co., Ltd,, was only moderately attended, as

the day was fine and an inducement to farmers to make up leeway with their seasonal work, which is backward as a result of recent adverse weather. Competition, nevertheless, was spirited in all cases, and good prices were realized for all live and dead stock. Sales were as follows:— Sheep—B6 shorn ewe hoggets 33/9, - 104 four-tooth ewes and lambs 26/-, 231 six and eight-tooth ewes and lambs 23/3, 187 f. and f. ewes and lambs 20/3, 182 four, six and eight-tooth ewes and lambs 25/-, 6 two-tooth store ewes and wethers 21/-, 2 three-shear Southdown rams at l(4gns, 4 three-shear Romney rams Ign, aged ram 5/-. Cattle —Dairy cow £l6/10/-, do. £B, do. £B, do. £B, dairy heifer £B/10/-, 2 15months steers £6. Horses —9-year gelding £7, 9-year do. £9, aged mare £l, aged gelding £4.
