CONTROL OF TAXI SERVICES
New Regulations Being Prepared (P.A.) WELLINGTON, February 23. The Minister of Transport, the Hon. J. O’Brien, said today that he was having new regulations prepared to give more effective control of the taxi services. These regulations would ensure that some taxis would be available over the 24 hours of the day and that where necessary a single telephone system would be established to control the whole of the taxis available. The Minister said he was having the position investigated in all the metropolitan areas and already he had arranged to have City Council representatives appointed to the taxi control committees in Auckland and Wellington.
