Miss Madge Flaus, George street, left yesterday for Dunedin and Timaru to attend the competition festivals. Mrs C. R. Story, Venlaw, who has been the guest of Mrs A. R. Dunlop, Ramrig street, returns home today. Mrs W. L. Cunningham, Castle Downs, who has been spending a holiday in Christchurch, returns today. Mrs G. St. V. Keddell, Grey street, will leave tomorrow to live in Wellington, where she has taken a position. Misses G. Hatton, Earn street, and M. Kelly, Teviot street, have returned to Invercargill after a short visit to Dunedin. There were seven tables at play at the meeting of the Bridge Circle of the Southland Women’s Club on Monday evening. The prize winners were Mrs H. H. Petrie and Miss O. Rein. Woodley and Mrs Woodley and family have left for Wellington, where they will reside until Constable Woodley is restored to health. Miss Richardson is spending the school holidays at Dunedin and Christchurch. Miss Renton is spending a short holiday with her parents at Balclutha. Miss O. M. Andrews, Pine Bush, was a week-end visitor of Mr and Mrs W. Thompson, Alma street. OREPUKI Miss C. O. Donnell is spending the school holidays at her home at Winton. Miss Annie Shaw has returned from a holiday spent with relations at Christchurch. Mrs J. Fraser was a recent visitor to Invercargill. Miss V. Hogg, Longwood, was the recent guest of Mr and Mrs J. Wilson. Mrs E. Houlihan, Niagara, is the guest of his mother, Mrs M. Morris, for a few days. Mrs Breayley and small son are spending a few days in Invercargill. Mrs J. Robbie, Invercargill, paid a brief visit to Orepuki, recently. Mrs Potts, Winton, was the guest of Mrs H. Palmer last week-end. Mrs C. Wilson has returned to her home at Longwood.

Auld, Dupedin, has been staying with her parents, Mr and Mrs W. Herrick, senior. Mr and Mrs W. Shaw are spending a holiday with relations at Waituna. Miss M. McLean is spending the school holidays at her home at Balclutha. Mrs G. Finn and family are the guests of Mr and Mrs T. Egerton, Winton, fox- a fortnight. WEDDING LAWLESS-TODD The marriage between Lilian Grace, third daughter of Mi - and Mrs D. C. Todd, Ythan street, and Cyril Patrick, son of Mr and Mrs S. Lawless, George street, Dunedin, was solemnized at St. Mary’s Basilica on Saturday, .August 16. The ceremony was performed by Father Gavin. The bride, who was given away by hex - father, wore a model gown of white satin inset with lace panels. The bodice was softly shirred and the skix-t fell into a fan-shaped train. Her tulle veil, lent by her aunt, was held in place by a coronet of orange blossom. She carried a sheaf of lilies. She was attended by her sister Daphne, who wore a frock of blue silk taffettas made very full and buttoned at the back with silver buttons. Her shoulder-length veil was held in place with a pink flower and she carried a bouquet of freesias and maidenhair fem. Marie Baker, niece of the bridegroom, was flowex - girl and wore a flared frock of white silk georgette embroidered with pink and blue flowers and lattice-work cap of blue ribbon. She carried a posy of narcissi. Mr Lester Baker, of Christchurch, was best man. After the ceremony the guests adjourned to the home of the bride’s parents, where the guests were received by Mrs Todd, assisted by Mrs Lawless. The former wore a navy edge-to-edge coat over a navy and white sheer frock. Her accessories were navy. The latter wore a wine coat over a teal blue frock trimmed with gold sequins with blue accessories. Both wore shouldex - sprays. The two-tier wedding cake was made by the bride’s aunt, Mrs Waters, Edendale. For travelling the bride wore a grey silk frock relieved with white under a model grey coat, violet shoes and grey gloves trimmed with violet and a grey toque. The young couple’s future home will be at Tennyson street, Dunedin.
