RIVERTON WINS FLAG Up to Saturday there were 13,384 National Savings Accounts in Southland, an increase of 521 for the week. This is the third highest week’s increase since the beginning of the campaign in October last. Other high increases for previous weeks were 571 and 681 accounts respectively. Riverton wins the National Savings flag for the period ended September 7 with 1054 accounts, equal to 100 per cent, of the population. Queenstown has also reached 100 per cent, with 912 accounts, but is not eligible for lhe competition, which is confined to towns with 1000 or more persons. The largest increases for the week were: Otautau, 122 new accounts (total of 305); Tuatapere, 106 new accounts (total 384). Other larger totals in the district are: Bluff 700, Edendale 913, Gore 1236, Ohai 547, Waikaka 458, Wyndham 479.
