SPECIAL EXPRESS DESPATCHED

INTER-ISLAND STEAMER ARRIVES LATE

A special train, carrying passengers from the North Island and also a few troops from the Papakura and Trentham military camps, arrived in Invercargill at 11.53 o’clock last night. The special train, which was due to arrive in Invercargill at 10.8 p.m., was despatched after the ordinary express with which the inter-island steamer failed to connect.

A special train carrying troops from Burnham military camp arrived at Invercargill at 7.33 p.m. It carried 273 Southland men, but only a small proportion journeyed as far as Invercargill.
