NAME DRAWN FROM HAT

CHAIRMAN OF AUCKLAND TRANSPORT BOARD (P.A.) AUCKLAND, May 26. When his name was drawn from a hat this morning Mr Joseph Sayegh became chairman of the Auckland Transport Board for the ensuing term. The voting, on party lines, was equal between the retiring chairman, Mr Nagle, and Mr Sayegh, Labour members supporting the latter. The names were then placed in a hat. Two years ago the same names were drawn from the hat and Mr Nagle was selected. Mr Sayegh was a Labour candidate for the city mayoralty in the recent elections and was defeated by Mr J. A. C. J\llum, but was re-elected as a member of the Hospital Board and the Harbour Board.
