OPINIONS OF COLONEL LINDBERGH

LITTLE INFLUENCE IN AMERICA

(P.A.) WELLINGTON, May 17. Colonel Charles Lindbergh’s attitude to war was unfavourably criticized by several passengers on the Monterey from America. “I should say that outside the pro-German group Colonel Lindbergh has very little influence in the United States,” said Dr Hough, Dean of the Drew Theological Seminary at New Jersey. “Only a noisy few subscribe to his views,” said Mr G. H. Grimwade, a prominent Melbourne business man. Dr Trehey, a Catholic priest, who has returned to New Zealand, said Americans admired Colonel Lindbergh for his sincerity, but doubted his ability as an expert on economic and political subjects.
