SOUTHLAND GUN DOG CLUB
SUCCESSFUL FIELD TRIALS The Southland Gun Dog Club held its second field trial day for the season at Bainfield road on Saturday afternoon. The outing was a successful one from every point of view and with good entries supporters were treated to an excellent display of field trial work, although the course appeared to be too difficult for the younger pups. The judges were Mr J. Reid (puppy and novice classes), Mr J. B. Pasco (limit class) and Mr J. R. O’Brien (open class). Afternoon tea’ was served by women supporters of the club. The following are the detailed results:—
Puppy Class (water trial). Eleven entries.—W. M. Clouston’s springer spaniel Brackenfield Trex (89pts) 1, C. Rapsey’s c.c.r. Sally (81pts) 2, P. Hennessey’s and W. Gorham’s s.s. Starlight (79pts) 3. Novice Class (land trial). Nine entries.—C. Rapsey’s Labrador Rajah (92pts) 1, W. M. Clouston’s s.s. Brackenfield Trex (87pts) 2. R. E. Blaikie’s Labrador Ned (85pts) 3. Limit Class. (Non-sight retrieve on land). Four entries. —R. E. Blaikie’s Labrador Ned (86pts) 1, W. Cavanagh’s Labrador Glen Isla (85pts) 2, C. Rapsey’s Labrador Rajah (73pts) 3. Open Class (find and flush). Seven entries.—P. Hennessey’s Dash of Three Star (83pts) 1, W. E. Hazlett’s LabradorBurwood (82pts) 2, W. E. Hazlett s Labrador King (81pts) 3.
