ENGLISH FOLK SONG AND DANCE SOCIETY
The annual meeting of the Southland branch of the English Folk Song and Dance Society was held in the Y.M.C.A. last evening. The annual report and balance-sheet were adopted. The following officers were elected: Patron, Miss A. Eastwood; president, Miss Hulston; secretary and treasurer, Miss M. Robinson.
As it is the object of the society to preserve English folk dances and songs and to encourage the use of them in their traditional forms, it was decided to continue with the weekly meetings, which will be held on Monday nights in the assembly hall of the Girls’ High School.
A vote of thanks to the High Schools Board for the use of the assembly hall was passed. A motion of sympathy with Miss Eastwood on the death of her mother was carried.
