SOLDIERS’ PARCELS Information that the Eastern Southland quota of soldiers’ parcels would be 420 was received at a meeting of the Gore Women’s Patriotic Committee, and a decision was made to open the Town Hall depot from 2.30 to 4 o’clock •• every afternoon from Monday to Friday till May 10, during which I time it was hoped that all contributions would be sent in. The committee also decided to ask various young people’s organizations if they would assist by contributions. Members were also asked to let it be known that baking powder tins should not be destroyed, but kept for use in packing future parcels. APRIL MEDAL MATCH OF GORE GOLF CLUB Conditions were perfect on Saturday afternoon when a large crowd of members of the Gore Golf Club took part in the club’s April medal match on the links at Croydon. The match was won by G. Thompson, who returned a card of 88-18-70. The best cards returned were: G. Thompson 88-18-70; L. G. Thomson 81-10-71; A. S. Atkins 87-15-72; A. J. Hawke 83-10-73; L. T. Cockerill 87-14- • 73; R. Lusk 92-18-74.
