SOLDIER MEMBERS OF PARLIAMENT
ARRANGEMENT MADE BY PARTY LEADERS (United Press Association) WELLINGTON, February 22. An understanding has been entered into by the Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. P. Fraser, and the Leader of the Opposition, Mr S. G. Holland, to do everything in their power to get their supporters to vote solidly at the next General Election for Members of Parliament on active service who seek reelection. This is to be done regardless of the party to which the absent soldier member belongs. The arrangement has been made to deal with the situation that will arise in the event of a person, claiming to be an Independent candidate or a candidate of some party other than the Labour Party or the National Party, contesting seats held by members serving with the Armed Forces.
