MR JUSTICE O’REGAN’S TERM EXTENDED
The extension of Mr Justice O’Regan’s term as judge of the Compensation Court beyond the normal retiring age is the purpose of the regulation gazetted on Thursday giving the Governor-Gen-eral in Council power to make a temporary appointment of a judge of the Compensation Court, the appointee to hold office for such period as may be limited in his commission. “The regulation merely means that Mr Justice O’Regan’s term has been extended for two years,” the Minister for Labour (the Hon. P. C. Webb) said in a telephone interview with The Press. “His term of office has been extended because of the war, and because he has given satisfaction to everybody. The Government felt that he should be given the opportunity to continue his good work.”
