“PEACE NEWS”

To The Editor

Sir, —Mr A. W. Jones talks about the correct name of what has been known as the Athenaeum ever since I have been in Invercargill. He seeks to divert the attention of your readers from the main point at issue. “Peace News” was to be read by anyone going to the reading room for months after the war broke out. Mr Jones is delightfully vague. He says “Peace News” was removed from the reading room some time ago. How long ago? Let him be precise. The war has been going on now for more than nine months. I assert that “Peace News” has been in the reading room for more than seven months, probably more than eight months, after the outbreak of war.—Yours, etc., J. P. DAKIN. June 26, 1940.
