SOLDIERS ON LEAVE BIDDING FAREWELL TO MEN At a public meeting convened by the Mayor (Mr C. W. McConnell) arrangements were made to bid farewell to men on active service who are on final leave. Those present were Messrs D. McConnell, T. McKelvie, G. Folster, N. McLeod, F. Ballantyne, W. N. Dunnage, Mrs W. N. Dunnage and the town clerk. The Mayor explained the purpose of the meeting and after some discussion a committee was formed consisting of all present with power to add. HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY At a recent meeting of the executive of the Mataura Horticultural Society the chairman (Mr J. Ingram) referred to the death of two valuable members of the society—Mrs J. Dore and Mrs M. Ferguson. Those present stood in silence as a mark of respect.
