WEDDINGS

GENGE-SELLARS The marriage was solemnized on November 29 at St. John’s Anglican Church, of Joan, only daughter of Mr and Mrs D. Sellars, Leet street, Invercargill, and Alwyn, youngest son of Mr and Mrs T. Genge, Wairio. The ceremony was performed by the Ven. Archdeacon J. A. Lush, and Mr Charles Martin played the wedding music. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a gown of ivory lace over satin. The rucked bodice had a heart-shaped neckline finished with small flowers and leaves and was finished at the back with satin buttons. The sleeves came to a point over the hands. The skirt was full and the train was trimmed with silver leaves. Her embroidered tulle veil, which was lent by a friend, fell from a coronet of orange blossom and was worn over the face on entering the church. She carried a bouquet of abutilons, roses and asparagus fem. The bridesmaid was Miss Molly McKenzie. She wore a frock of clover net over taffetas. The bodice was pleated to the waist and had full puffed sleeves. The skirt * was very full and was finished with a sash of purple velvet. She wore a gold cross and chain, and gold shoes, also a gold scalloped halo with clover and pink wood-fibre flowers. She carried a bouquet of clematis, abutilons and asparagus fern. Mr Lyall Genge, brother of the bridegroom, was best man. The reception was held at the Tudor Lounge, where the guests were received by the mother of the bride. She wore a navy blue ensemble, a navy hat with flowers and hat, bag and shoes to match. Her shoulder spray was oi anemones. The bridegroom's mother wore a black ensemble, a black hat with lavender flowers and a shoulder spray of roses.

For travelling, the bride wore a clover coat over a clover and navy dress and navy hat, bag, gloves and shoes. She carried a fur, the gift of the bridegroom. Mr and Mrs A. Genge will live in Short street, Invercargill. Before her marriage, the bride was entertained at a gift evening in the Bowmont street hall by Mrs Lee. After the wedding Mr and Mrs Sellars entertained about 200 of their friends at a dance in the United Friendly Society’s hall. Mr A. Jackson was master of ceremonies.
