CHRISTMAS PARTY AT SHOW GROUNDS
ACTIVITY OF CRIPPLED CHILDREN SOCIETY The spirit of the festive season prevailed at the show grounds on Saturday afternoon, when a Christmas party for the crippled children was held in fine weather. The children were collected from their homes by interested friends at an early hour, and on arrival, were at once plied with refreshments which would have gladdened the heart of the most robust child. An entertainment by Mr Charles Trim, and Mr Gilchirst and his doll, was appreciated. Each child received an individual carton of food, which was eaten out-of-doors. Ice-creams and balloons were also distributed. The highlight of the afternoon was the appearance of Father Christmas, who arrived by car, and drove round the ring, with his head appearing through the sunshine roof. From the Christmas tree, under the grandstand, he gave each child a present. The improved appearance of all the children under the care of the society was noticed and commented on by all. Mr G. F. Griffitlis, president, thanked the adults for their assistance in arranging the party, and the children for the pleasure they had afforded their elders.
