PLAYS PRESENTED BY DRAMA GROUP EFFORTS WELL RECEIVED BY BIG AUDIENCE A presentation of plays by the Tapanui Drama Group was held in the Town Hall, Tapanui. Mr Wathington (tutor for the Association of Country Education) has been giving instruction to the club for the past three months. Five one-act plays were presented by the members of the group to a large audience and were well received. The plays were: “Playgoers” (Sir Arthur Pinero), “Something to Talk About” (Edna Philpotts), “When the Whirlwind Blows” (Essex Wane), “After the Tempest” (Geoffrey Tease), “A Husband for Breakfast” (R. E. Mitchell). PERSONAL Mr C. Kibblewhite, head master of the Tapanui District High School, has been transferred to the Anderson’s Bay School, Dunedin, and will take up this position after the Christmas holidays. RED CROSS SOCIETY At a meeting of the Tapanui subbranch of the Red Cross Spciety it was decided to hold a children’s fancy dress Christmas party on Saturday afternoon, December 16, to raise funds for the making of comforts for the sick and wounded soldiers.
