CRICKET In the second round of the Northern Southland cricket competition, the Balfour B team travelled to Riversaale and suffered a two-point loss. WIN FOR BALFOUR A Playing at Balfour, Balfour A scored a two-point win over Lumsden. Lumsden batted first, L. Richards being the only batsman to reach double figures. Bowling for Balfour, R. Orr took six wickets for 12 runs. Lumsden fared little better in its second .innings and had lost six wickets for twenty-two when stumps were drawn. Orr again bowled well, taking two wickets for two runs. The Balfour batsmen forced the pace and the innings was closed .with five wickets down for 65. L. Mulqueen was again in form and compiled 28 not out. T. Mulqueen 14, and R. Orr 13, also batted well. D. Matheson bowled well for Lumsden, taking three wickets for 39 runs. Details:—
