WOOL APPRAISEMENT IN INVERCARGILL
DATE GIVEN OFFICIALLY AS JANUARY 19 The secretary of the Invercargill Stock and Wool Brokers’ Association has received official advice that the first appraisal of wool in Invercargill will be made on January 15. No schedule of prices is yet available. The Auckland clip has been appraised and shipped, so that full advantage can be taken of the available shipping space. The Auckland growers are still in the dark about the price they are to receive. Wool is beginning to come into store in Invercargill, and with the recent fine weather farmers have been busy. It is imperative in view of the Government’s requirements that farmers should skirt their wool thoroughly this season. Instructions have already been given about the branding, and marking of bales to meet the needs of the Government.
Unless there is a shortage of seasonal workers for shearing, and so on, the wool should come in much more rapidlv to Southland stores from now on.
