Becoming Unsettled
(Special to The Times) WELLINGTON, December 1.
Following is the special weather'forecast for Southland issued by the Meteorological Office, Wellington:— Moderate, but freshening northwesterly winds, with a change to south-westerly or southerly probable; weather becoming unsettled on Sunday, with rain developing from the west. Seas slight to moderate, but rising. Following is the Dominion forecast:
Fair to fine east of the Southern Alps; elsewhere cloudy to overcast and in places misty with rain in most districts but more especially in western and central areas where
further heavy falls are likely. Temperatures are mild to warm. General Situation.—A complex depression lies over the centre of the Dominion but pressure remains high to the east. Winds.—Between north-east and north-west prevailing, moderate to strong from Nelson and Marlborough northwards and moderate but freshening thence southwards. Seas.—New Zealand waters, rough north of East Cape, south of Cape Egmont and about Cook Strait Elsewhere slight or moderate but rising later about Foveaux Strait. Eastern Tasman Sea, moderate to strong northerly to north-westerly winds; seas rather rough to rough. The weather in Invercargill yesterday was warm and calm. Light rain fell for a few minutes in the afternoon. This morning at 1 o’clock, the weather was cold, calm, and clear.
